About me

Light, shadow,
structure.

Structure first, then what the light does to it. Panelling held at mid height so a room sits lower and reads calmer, and gaps left in the furniture so you are drawn through a space rather than around it.

Based in Cheltenham, and further when it is worth the drive. A run on the BBC's Interior Design Masters sharpened the habit of designing fast and committing to the decision, which matters as much in a house as it did against a deadline.

Services

Four ways
we work.

Four kinds of job, one method: work out how people move through the room, then decide everything else. A whole flat in Lisbon, a dental practice, a room at Wembley, and nine kitchen ranges.

The guest bedroom, Lisbon

From a pen
to a room.

Matt Smith-Wood's pen sketch of the guest bedroom: colour washed across the upper wall and ceiling, ribbed paneling below, a pair of pictures above the bed The same room visualised: ochre above dark panelling, the same two pictures above the bed and the same green lamps either side The finished room photographed in its round mirror: the two panels on the ochre wall, the dark fluted panelling, the green shaded lamp and the bed, all reflected
  1. 01 · Drawn

It starts in pen, with the reason written underneath.

Colour above, panelling below, two pictures over the bed and something green either side of it. Every one of those decisions is already made here, while changing them still costs nothing.

  2. 02 · Visualised

Then built once, where mistakes are still free.

Same corner of the same room, visualised. The ochre is chosen, the panelling line is set and the pictures are hung, all of it before anyone has ordered a tin of paint.

  3. 03 · Built

And then it is a room you can sleep in.

Seen in the round mirror, which is drawn on the left wall of the sketch you started on. The two panels are in all three frames, and so is the panelling, and so is the green beside the bed.

Its balanced framework, in a carefully curated palette, evokes understated grandeur whilst honouring intricate craftsmanship and tradition. Finished with considered detailing and subtle heritage touches, it brings warmth, authenticity and enduring style. The London brings a wealth of timeless design to contemporary interiors and is equally at home in a period property.

  5. Detroit

The Detroit is a bold design statement, fusing utility and performance with refined industrial aesthetics, crafted for urban living. The balance of industrial detail and organic materiality creates a space that feels both striking and functional, whilst remaining tactile and inviting.

  6. Milan

Inspired by the interior design capital of Italy, the Milan brings sleek, smooth finishes along with matte textures, evoking a sense of softness and warmth. The Milan meets all the needs of a modern home; stylish and atmospheric whilst offering ultimate functionality for contemporary living.

  7. Copenhagen

With a nod to Danish design, the Copenhagen is a haven of subtle, architectural luxury, defined by clean lines and satisfying form, offering an atmospheric space to eat and rest. Calming textures, from oak wood grain through to the slab floor fuse structure and texture into the space, resonating with contemporary life. Open shelving and rich dark woods define clean, architectural lines, curating a space with a refined sense of minimalism.

  8. Stockholm

Inspired by Scandinavian living and quiet geometry, the Stockholm offers a masterclass in understated luxury; clean lines, smooth painted surfaces with the option of a true handleless finish provide a space which feels minimal and uncluttered, the pure natural materials are warm and inviting. Crafted for considered living this kitchen merges practical performance with a composed, understated elegance.

  9. Sydney

Drawn to the open plan, light-filled living and minimalist design celebrated throughout Australia, the Sydney offers a perfectly streamlined, easy-living design. Quiet luxury combined with fresh modernity and smooth finishes are perfectly framed alongside gently contrasting, yet perfectly complimentary colours and textures.

More than
function.

A kitchen is the one room you stand up in. You move about it, and you put a hand on nearly everything in it, which is why the framework and the finish carry more weight here than anywhere else in the house.

Designed with System Six, who build them. Nine ranges, so the same kitchen does not get sold into nine different houses.
